The First Treasure Hunt Clues
The Clueasaurus Treasure
This is a fun treasure hunt that doesn't
require a backpack full of food and water. With a bit of smarts
and some luck, you might find wrap this one up with less than
an hour out of your car. You'll have a nice view as well. (This
is one of the Fremont County Challenges.) Enjoy!
Note: Take a photo of yourself at the "hole
in the wall" to prove you were there if you are going to
participate in the other hunts. Remember, youhave to complete
three treasure hunts and submit the appropriate photo from each
(see the contact page for the email address) in order to win
one of the books from the "Treasure Chest."
The Treasure Hunt Clues
A drive above the town with the
missing y
On a one-way road into the sky
Will take you to the ancient track
Of animals that will not come back
Pass them by and park the car
Get ready for a walk, but not too far
On the side of the ridge facing the town
You'll find a trail that will take you down
When you come to the hole in the
wall
Climb carefully so you do not fall
Twenty feet up are parallel lines
A horizontal one topping the design
Count the vertical marks and spell
the number
For this is the first clue to remember
Continue down the trail at a careful
pace
Watching the wall that holds it in place
Soon you will find four letters alone
A line drawn under them, carved in stone
To the first clue add these four
And return the car to find one more
Drive past the high point, but
not too far
To the place where it's easy to park the car
Walk to the eastern edge and look down
From here you'll have a view of the town
Look for the building that is bent
It will be the last place you are sent
Find the name of the street it faces
The first two letters fill the last two places
Claiming Your Treasure
Put the three clues together in lower case
letters and insert in place of the question marks to get the
URL address of the next treasure hunt page:
http://www.ColoradoTreasureHunting.com/clues???.html
Special treasure and bonus: Within 50 feet
of where the letters are carved there is a small plastic liquor
bottle with a dollar bill inside it. It is somewhere in the rock
wall. Keep the dollar if you find it, and insert the serial number
(letters lower-case) in place of the question marks below to
get the URL address where a special gift awaits you:
http://www.ColoradoTreasureHunting.com/z-???.html
Note:
Though the standard clues are not likely to be tampered with,
and so you can always complete this treasure hunt and eventually
(with two more) win a prize, the bonus treasure (the dollar and
bonus) may be taken by the first to find it, and so may not be
available. I will make a note here if I know it has been found.
Geocaches: There
is a nice Geocache near the search area (you'll walk within a
third of a mile of it). It is called the Skyline Ledge Geocache,
and it has been there for over six years. Here are the GPS coordinates:
N 38° 27.893 / W 105° 15.153
